BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

A system for managing a battery and a method for driving the same are provided to presume an early SOC(State Of Charge) by using a linear equation on a section where an OCV(Open Circuit Voltage) and the SOC have a linear correspondence. A system for managing a battery includes a sensing unit(10) and an MCU(Micro Control Unit)(20). The sensing unit(10) measures the voltage and an electric current of the battery. The MCU(20) receives the voltage and the electric current of the battery, measures the OCV using the voltage of the battery when a key is turned on, and presumes an early SOC according to the OCV when the key is turned on. The MCU(20) divides the OCV into first and second OCV areas and estimates the early SOC by using a linear equation if the OCV is included in the first OCV area when the key is turned on.
