The invention relates to a handling device comprising a rack (C) with incisions on both sides (12, 22), which is sandwiched between two pinions (A, B) having horizontal axes, said pinions being disposed in the same horizontal plane or essentially in the same horizontal plane and being driven in opposing directions by the same motorization (2). The output shaft (3) of the motorization (2) transmits the motor movement to a primary reducing gear system (4), the output shaft (5) of which corresponds to the input shaft of a secondary planetary differential reducing system (6) comprising a sun pinion (7), planet pinions (8) and an outer ring gear (14). The planet carrier (9) of the secondary differential reducing gear (6) drives one of the pinions (A) on one of the sides (12) of the double rack (C) and the outer ring gear (14) of the planet reducing gear (6) drives a toothed wheel (17) via suitable mechanical means (18), said toothed wheel driving the second gear (B) on the other side (22) of the double rack (C).
