PURPOSE: A method for managing a battery power in a mobile computer is provided to extend an available time with respect to a specific function designated by a user using a remaining amount of the current battery and restricting a battery power consumption effectively by a user's selection in a portable computer. CONSTITUTION: A remaining amount of the current battery detected by a battery power-detecting unit is displayed on a screen through an LCD module(S10). If a user designates an input of a specific function(S11), it is checked whether an automatic setting button or a menu selection button displayed on the screen is clicked. If the menu selection button is clicked(S12), the available time of the specific function is calculated using the remaining amount(S15). A power management setting menu is displayed on the screen(S16). If the user selects a predetermined mode of the menu(S17), a performance of each element is set corresponded to a parameter thereof(S18). After restricting a performance of each element using a restricted set parameter value, the specific function inputted and designated by the user is executed(S19).
