The seat has a base and a backrest (6) comprising a lateral part receiving a user and aligned with a central part when the lateral part is in deployed and retracted positions, respectively. An articulation unit has a cam (34) integrated to an axle (32) for automatically moving the lateral part from the deployed position to the retracted position in response to a movement of the seat from its usage position to retracted position. A rear connecting rod (14) is articulated with the backrest and a floor pan of a motor vehicle, and is moved to cause the movement of the lateral part.
