The device (D) e.g. on-off switch, has three phases (1-3) mounted in series with phases of an electrical equipment, where each phase of the device has fixed contacts (4-6) and movable contacts (7-9). The movable contacts are actuated by independent actuators (10-12) based on a predetermined sequence, so that one movable contact (7) associated to one phase is actuated during turning-on and turning-off operations, while circulating current in the phases is null. An independent claim is also included for a method for implementing an electric interrupting device.
