The shelf has a driver (101) located close to an articulation axle (106) of the shelf, where the shelf is moved into a clearance position during the deployment of a retractable roof of a motor vehicle from a retracted position towards a covering position. The driver is activated by one end of a rotating cable (100), where another end of the cable is driven in rotation by an electric motor (16). The driver has a sprocket wheel (105) indirectly driven by an endless screw (104) and activating the shelf.
