An apparatus and a method of equalizing a room parameter for an audio system with an acoustic transducer array are provided to remove the inconvenience of a listener by including a sound volume determining device in a remote controller. In an apparatus for equalizing a room parameter for an audio system with an acoustic transducer array, an audio signal generating unit(110) generates two same audio signals. An audio signal changing unit(120) delays one of the two audio signals generated in the audio signal generating unit(110) and filters the other signal to provide the changed audio signals to a sound beam generating unit(130). The sound beam generating unit(130) changes two changed audio signals into sounds, and directly transmits one sound to the location of a listener and reflects the other sound from a reflecting device to transmit the reflected sound to the location of the listener. A sound volume determining unit(200) collects the sound synthesized by the two sounds at the location of the listener to determine the volume of synthesized sound. A controlling unit(160) calculates a delay constant and a filter coefficient when the volume of synthesized sound is minimum by repeatedly operating the audio signal generating unit(110), the audio signal changing unit(120), the sound beam generating unit(130), and the sound volume determining unit(200).
