摘要 A starting device of a vehicle theft prevention system is provided to start an engine by performing authentication and inputting a password through the use of a transmission mode change operation of a manual transmission upon occurrence of breakage of FOB. A starting device of a vehicle theft prevention system includes a locking unit, an FOB, a manual transmission(10), and a personal identification card unit(5). The locking unit switches a vehicle start and steering operation enabled condition and a vehicle start and steering operation disabled condition. The FOB includes data for authentication of user and a control unit for communication. The manual transmission is arranged to vary a rotation direction and torque when load generated from a vehicle engine is transmitted to driving wheels of a vehicle and create data for authentication of user in accordance with shifting of a gear shift range. The personal identification card unit judges whether a user is an authenticated one through communication with the FOB, and allows for starting and steering operation by controlling the locking unit. The personal identification card unit perceives the sequence of shifting of the gear shift range input through the manual transmission, as data for user authentication, and compares the data with preset data if the user is not an authenticated one, and allows for engine start and steering operation by controlling the locking unit if user authentication is successful.
