Vehicle tank`s available fuel quantity estimation device, has filtering module receiving signal of fuel gauge in input of module and filtering signal of fuel gauge in non-linear and symmetrical manner

The device has a filtering module (3) receiving a signal of a fuel gauge (1) in an input of the module. The module permits to filter the signal of the fuel gauge in a non-linear and symmetrical manner. An estimation algorithm based calculation module (4) receives the filtered signal and an estimation signal (2) of volume consumed between two time periods. The module (4) provides a signal whose amplitude represents an estimation of volume of fuel available in a tank of a vehicle. Detection of fuel level in the tank is based on a non-linear processing of the fuel gauge`s signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for estimating quantity of fuel available in a tank of a vehicle.
