<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus and a radio communication system capable of prolonging a viewing time of streaming data by selecting an encoding system. <P>SOLUTION: First, concerning corresponding encoding formats of both apparatuses, estimated communicable time durations of the respective apparatuses are computed (S601). Next, a communicable time duration as the whole of the radio communication system is found for each encoding format (S602). This is the value of the shorter one of estimated communicable time durations of both apparatuses. An encoding format by which an estimated communicable time duration as this whole system becomes the longest is selected (S603).
