PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic electroluminescence element which is excellent in the optical transparency and stability of an electron injection electrode, and has a capability to improve the luminous efficiency by increasing the amount of electron injected into a light-emitting layer. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescence element includes a positive hole injection electrode, an electron injection electrode, an organic layer including a light-emitting layer provided between the positive hole injection electrode and electron injection electrode, and an electron injection layer provided between the organic layer and electron injection electrode. It is characterized that the electron injection electrode is formed with a thin film made of a high work function metal, while the electron injection layer is formed with a low work function metal and fluoride or oxide material containing the low work function metal.
