PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll-like medium supporting device capable of setting a roll-like medium simply and to provide a recording device provided with the roll-like medium supporting device. SOLUTION: This roll-like medium supporting device is provided with flange members 117 fitted into both ends of the roll-like medium, a first holder member 113 fixed to a body of the device to support the flange member on one side, a second holder member 114 provided in the body of the device so as to move freely in the axial direction of the roll-like medium and supporting the flange member on the other side, and a guide member 115 for guiding the movement of the second holder member, which has a movable guide part 43a sliding with the body of the device to guide its movement. Consequently, since a long roll shaft being required by a conventional roll-like medium supporting device becomes unnecessary, roll-like mediums having different sizes can be easily set. In addition, since the second holder member is supported by the body of the device and the guide member in contact with the movable guide part in a dispersion manner, the roll-like medium can be set with high precision.
