PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain block with an auxiliary motor capable of assisting rotation of a handwheel in accordance with large or small load and direction of the load generated in the handwheel. SOLUTION: This chain block with the auxiliary motor is provided with a detection mechanism 18 for detecting load generated in the handwheel 17, the auxiliary motor 21 for assisting rotation of the handwheel 17, and a controller 22 for controlling rotation of the auxiliary motor 21 based on large or small load and direction of the load detected by the detection mechanism 18 to assist rotation of the handwheel 17 in accordance with the large or small load and the direction of the load generated in the handwheel 17 so that a load is moved in the intended direction quickly, by small force, and at the intended speed.
