<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display having highly improved gray scale inversion by improving not only display quality but also a viewing angle characteristic with a simple configuration, particularly, an ECB type, TN type or IPS type liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: A polarizing plate for the liquid crystal display includes a first protective film, a polarizing film, a second protective film and a light diffusion layer in order. The light diffusion layer is a layer including a translucent resin and translucent particles having a refractive index different from a refractive index of the translucent resin.
