PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AGC circuit and control method thereof in which precision in correlation detection can be improved by preventing occurrence of over amplitude although there is a problem, in a conventional AGC circuit and control method thereof, that precision in correlation detection is reduced by generating over amplitude on an initial stage of data reception. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an AGC circuit and control method thereof in which a first multiplexer 151 inputs an AGC enable signal that becomes "enabled" in accordance with rising of a data receiving section and becomes "disabled" in accordance with falling of an AGC amplifier enable signal, when the AGC enable signal is "enabled", an AGC value calculated in a data receiving section of the present time is outputted and when the AGC enable signal is "disabled", a valid AGC value calculated and stored in a data receiving section of the previous time is outputted.
