PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CM detection apparatus for automatically and extremely highly accurately detecting a CM part in each program when receiving and/or reproducing the program containing CM. SOLUTION: The CM detection apparatus comprises: a silent section detecting part 112 for detecting the valley part of sound volume in an audio signal as a silent section; a silent section selecting part 115 for selecting the detected silent section according to predetermined conditions; a shot change detecting part 111 for detecting a shot change from a correlative value between images of a video signal; a CM change candidate detecting means 113 for detecting an included shot change part as a CM change candidate when this shot change is included in each of detected silent sections, a CM block candidate detecting means for detecting a CM block candidate from detected CM change candidates; and a CM block determining means 114 for determining whether or not the detected CM block candidate is a true CM block using program information.
