PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device making operation limiting timing appropriate. SOLUTION: In a vehicle, the vehicle control device for limiting operation of predetermined on-vehicle equipment when predetermined conditions are achieved is provide with a measuring means for measuring a distance between an object located on the periphery of the vehicle and the vehicle; a detecting means for detecting lateral positional shift quantity of the vehicle from a central position of a traffic lane where the vehicle is traveling; and an operation limiting means for limiting the operation of the predetermined on-vehicle equipment when (A) the lateral shift quantity exceeds a first predetermined value (TH2) or (B) the distance measured by the measuring means is below a second predetermined value (TH1) even if the lateral shift quantity is below the first predetermined value (TH2).
