PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an equipment for cooling a steel plate capable of uniformly and consistently cooling the steel plate at a high cooling rate. SOLUTION: A bar-like cooling water 23 is fed to an upper surface of a steel plate 10 at a jetting angleθ1 from a first upper nozzle 22, and a bar-like cooling water 27 is fed from a second upper nozzle 26 at a jetting angleθ2. A retaining cooling water 28 on the upper surface of the steel plate 10 is dammed by a rolling roll 17 and the bar-like cooling water 23, 27 to form a consistent water-cooled area.
