A method of continuously treating wastewater while producing fuel gas through decomposing of any organic matter contained in the wastewater. There is provided a method of wastewater treatment, comprising reacting a wastewater containing organic matter with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst to thereby gasify the organic matter contained in the wastewater, wherein: the amount of hydrogen added to the wastewater containing organic matter is 45 Nl or more per mol of whole organic carbon within the wastewater, the fluid consisting of a mixture of hydrogen and the wastewater containing organic matter is heated in advance in the presence of a catalyst by a heating unit, and the hydrogen and wastewater containing organic matter within the mixed fluid after heating are reacted with each other at 215° to 370°C in the presence of a catalyst in a hydrothermal reaction unit.
