<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmissive liquid crystal display device which is capable of performing display with good contrast ratio by suppressing grayscale inversion in a wide viewing angle range. <P>SOLUTION: A light scattering film 12, a liquid crystal cell 13, and a backlight 14 are layered in order to constitute a transmissive liquid crystal display device 11. A periodical aperture plate 32 comprising a light absorbing sheet which has an aperture for each pixel of the liquid crystal cell 13 is put on a surface light emitting light source 31, and furthermore, a microlens array 33 having lenses 33a per pixel is put on the periodical aperture plate 33, whereby the backlight 14 is taken as a point light source composed of directional light to focus the light on the light scattering film 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
