PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile steering device of a vehicle capable of preventing a steering wheel from being driven in an unexpected direction when starting the automatic steering control, and preventing the sense of incongruity from being given to a driver. SOLUTION: As shown in Fig. 5(B), when the actual turning angleθof a wheel is in a predetermined range (an area a or an area b), the drive control of a steering actuator is started, and the initial target turning angleθini when starting the drive control of the steering actuator is set in the same direction as the direction of the target turning angleθref when starting the drive control in the area an outside the predetermined range. Thus, the steering wheel is constantly turned in the same direction irrespective of the condition of the actual turning angleθwhen starting the drive control, preventing the steering wheel from being turned in the direction opposite to the expected direction, and preventing the sense of incongruity from being given to a driver.
