PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a continuously variable transmission capable of accurately discriminating the connection state of a clutch when an accelerator pedal is not stepped on. SOLUTION: The control device comprises a forward/reverse selecting clutch 30 arranged between an engine 70 and a CVT transmission part 40. If the primary pulley rotational speed Npri is higher than an engine rotational speed Ne with no accelerator pedal 55 stepped on, a forward clutch 32 is judged to be released in the forward/reverse selecting clutch 30.
