PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording reproducer which suitably restricts each user's using contents when a plurality of users commonly use. SOLUTION: The recording recorder records recording data with a user's identifier attached thereto on an HDD, etc. at a recording operation. At a reproducing or depleting operation, it permits access to object image data as far as a use's identifier attached thereto is equal to that of a user having instructed this operation. The recorder has stored a maximum recordable time of each user in a RAM andcontrols so that the total of the user's image data may not exceed a maximum recordable time at recording images on the HDD, i.e., records the data by comparing the remaining recordable time with the maximum recordable time.
