PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To turn off the mute of a telephone device with the start timing of a sound signal output. SOLUTION: In a telephone system 1 in which a communication device 10 and a telephone device 20 are connected to each other for communication, the telephone device 20 contains a sound signal output processing implementation request unit 31 which makes a request to the communication device 10 for implementation of sound signal output processing, and a sound signal output limiting unit 34 which limits sound signals outputted from a receiver 33, and the communication device 10 contains a sound signal transmission unit 42 which transmits prescribed sound signals to the telephone device 20 when it is requested by the telephone device 20 to implement prescribed sound signal output processing, and a mute cancellation signal transmitting unit 43 which transmits mute cancellation signals that indicate the start of the transmission of sound signals with timing corresponding to the timing of the transmission of sound signals by the sound signal transmission unit 42. Furthermore, the telephone device 20 contains a sound signal output limitation cancellation unit 35 which cancels limitations imposed on the sound signal output of the receiver 33 when it receives mute cancellation signals.
