The method involves assigning reference information to fax numbers of fax receiving devices (300). A fax receiving device is selected from the set of fax receiving devices for an execution of fax transmission. A fax number is entered based on the selected fax receiving device. Control information is generated from the entered fax number by a control information generating device (110). The control information is verified based on the reference information before accomplishing the fax transmission at the fax receiving device, which is assigned the entered fax number. An independent claim is also included for a device for verification of a fax-number entered at a fax-sending device by a user for an execution of fax-transmission.
