A transversal field mode liquid crystal display is provided to generate an in plane field and a fringe field by arranging a first pixel electrode of a plate type, a second pixel electrode of a slit type and a counter electrode of a slit type, thereby decreasing driving voltage of the transversal field mode liquid crystal display. A transversal field mode liquid crystal display comprises the following parts: a lower substrate(100) including a switching element; a plate type first pixel electrode(P1) which is installed inside of the lower substrate; a counterelectrode(C) including a plurality of first line patterns with the same interval; a second pixel electrode(P2), which is electrically connected to the first pixel electrode, including a plurality of second line patterns; a upper substrate(200) having a color filter; and a liquid crystal layer(300) which is installed between the lower substrate and the upper substrate. |
