<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently detect a line of sight, within a whole picture. <P>SOLUTION: In a means 10 for detecting a face picture FP from the whole picture P. A plurality of eye feature points and face feature points are extracted from the face picture FP by a means 20 for extracting a feature points. An eye feature quantity EF and a face feature quantity FF is extracted from each of feature points ECP, FCP extracted from a feature quantity generation means 30. A feature vector CB comprising these as vector components is generated.
