PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-infrared absorbing material with light resistance and the other physical properties compatible with each other. SOLUTION: The near-infrared absorbing material comprises at least one of a singlet oxygen scavenger, a radical trapping agent and an antioxidant, and a near-infrared-absorbing compound obtained by oxidizing a compound of the general formula(II). In the general formula(II), R<SP>211</SP>, R<SP>212</SP>, R<SP>221</SP>, R<SP>222</SP>, R<SP>231</SP>, R<SP>232</SP>, R<SP>241</SP>and R<SP>242</SP>are each H, an aliphatic group or aromatic group; R<SP>203</SP>, R<SP>213</SP>, R<SP>233</SP>and R<SP>243</SP>are each a substituent; and n<SB>203</SB>, n<SB>213</SB>, n<SB>223</SB>, n<SB>233</SB>and n<SB>243</SB>are each an integer of 0-4.
