PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spun single yarn usable for a woven or a knitted fabric in a state of one spun single yarn not as a plied yarn in the same way as a non-twist fasciated spun yarn and providing the woven or knitted fabric having excellent abrasion resistance and a pile fabric rich in cushioning properties in the same manner as a spun plied yarn. SOLUTION: The spun single yarn is prepared by twisting a plurality of slivers 11a and 11b in a non-twisted state composed of staple fibers together. In a sliver twisting step of twisting the plurality of slivers in the non-twisted state composed of the staple fibers together and forming a twisted spun single yarn 12, each of axes P and Q of the plurality of slivers is adjusted to a plied point R where the plurality of slivers are twisted together and the plurality of slivers are radially arranged with the plied point R as the center. The axes P and Q of the plurality of slivers are crossed at a required crossing angleθin the doubling point R and the slivers are twisted.
