PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coated paper for gravure printing, by which speckle is improved, which has high white paper glossiness and has little minute unevenness of glossiness and little unevenness of ink impression after printing. SOLUTION: The method for producing the coated paper for gravure printing comprises applying a coating liquid containing clay as inorganic pigment in an amount of≥50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. inorganic pigment and starch as an adhesive in an amount of≤5 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. inorganic pigment to a raw paper and then passing the coated paper through a calender composed of an elastic roll 2 and a metallic roll 1 heated to a temperature higher than that of the metallic roll 1 by≥20°C, in the method for producing the coated paper for gravure printing in which a coating layer having the pigment and the adhesive is provided on the raw paper.
