PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the intergranular cracking of austenite single phase Ni-containing steel. SOLUTION: The slab is manufactured by continuously casting the austenite single phase Ni-containing steel having a composition satisfying three formulas, Ni(eq)-1.1xCr(eq)+8.0≥0, Cr(eq)≥18.0, and Ni(eq)≥10.0 by actuating an electromagnetic stirring force on the molten steel within a casting mold and the unsolidified molten steel in a secondary cooling zone or on the molten steel within the casting mold or the unsolidified molten steel in the secondary cooling zone. An equiaxed crystal rate which is a ratio obtained by dividing the equiaxed crystal area length occupying in the thickness direction of the slab by a slab thickness is≥20%. The intergranular cracking of the slab of the austenite single phase Ni-containing steel can be effectively prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
