摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of receiving environmental light by a sufficient light quantity on a photodetection surface, and electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal panel 11 having a TFT array substrate 22 and a counter substrate 23 between which a liquid crystal layer 21 is held, and a seal material provided between the TFT array substrate 22 and counter substrate 23 to seal the liquid crystal layer 21, and the liquid crystal panel 11 is irradiated with illumination light on its back side; a first polarizing plate 12 disposed on the front side of the liquid crystal panel 11; and a backlight control circuit which controls the display state of an image displayed on the liquid crystal panel 11. The liquid crystal panel 11 has a photodetector 35 which receives the environmental light and at least a portion of the photodetection surface 34A of the photodetector 35 is disposed overlapping neither the seal material nor the first polarizing plate 12 in plan view. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
