PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a portable telephone which has portability, generates a projection image that is bright enough for viewing, and has an image projection function that can be easily performed. SOLUTION: A transparent liquid crystal panel 23, a projection lens 26, and a light source unit 35 of an LED are mounted to a portable telephone body. Mounting positions of the transparent liquid crystal panel 23 and the projection lens 26 are set so as to be capable of moving from the portable telephone body to the outside, the display screen of the transparent liquid crystal panel 23 is fixed nearly vertical to the optical axis Q of the light source 35, and the projection lens 26 is fixed at a position so as to make its optical axis nearly coincident with the optical axis Q of the light source unit 35. Light rays radiating from the light source unit 35 are set parallel. The transparent liquid crystal panel 23 serves also as a sub-panel of a liquid crystal provided at the portable telephone. By this setup, the portable telephone is capable of possessing portability equivalent to that of a portable telephone with no projection function and generating a projection image bright enough for viewing.
