PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a stick-like object to be moved in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: The polymer actuator 10 is provided with an ion conductive high polymer body 11 of a cylindrical shape and with a cation substance impregnated thereinto, inner electrode arrays 15a which comprises a plurality of inner electrodes 12a arrayed on the inside circumferential surface of the ion conductive high polymer body 11 in the longitudinal direction of the ion conductive high polymer body 11, and outer electrode arrays 15b which comprises a plurality of outer electrodes 12b arrayed on the outside circumferential surface of the ion conductive high polymer body 11 in the longitudinal direction of the ion conductive high polymer body 11. The inside diameter of the polymer actuator 10 is changed by controlling the state of supplied voltages between the inner electrodes 12a and the outer electrodes 12b, so that a stick-like object inside the cylinder of the polymer actuator 10 is moved in the longitudinal direction.
