PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and power consumption of an electric motor, in an actuator for a continuously variable transmission, in which a moving screw body of a ball screw mechanism receives rotating power transmitted from an electric motor side and moves in an axial direction, and a movable sheave receives driving power in the axial direction of the movable screw body and moves in the axial direction. SOLUTION: A torque diode clutch 16 is disposed to a rotation transmission passage between the electric motor 4 and a nut 9 of the ball screw mechanism 6, so as to transmit input from the electric motor 4 side to a movable sheave 3 side, and shut off reverse input.
