PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester chip by which a drying step with a dryer in a production process of a polyester carried out by a conventional technique is omitted by dehydrating and drying the polyester chip in a production process of the molten polyester chip in production of the polyester and remarkable energy saving and cost reduction are carried out in drying of the polyester chip. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polyester chip comprises extruding a polyester in a molten state from an extrusion die into a strand form, cooling the strand with water in a cooling bath, solidifying the strand, then cutting the strand into a chip state, transferring the resultant polyester chip to a storage silo by pneumatic conveying and storing the polyester chip. In the method, the polyester chip is dried by making a waste gas generated in production of nitrogen gas flow to the storage silo. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
