PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber having a structure capable of firmly tightening a nut and securely mounting a vehicle body side support to a rod tip side. SOLUTION: In this shock absorber 1, the vehicle body side support 4 having a bearing member 5 relatively rotatable with respect to a piston rod 3 appearing/disappearing from a cylinder 2 is inserted into the tip side of the rod 3, and the nut 6 is screwed to the piston rod 3 in the upper side from the support 4, so as to prevent the vehicle body side support 4 from moving to the upper side of the piston rod 3. A coil spring 9 is interposed between the support 4 or an upper spring seat provided on the support 4 and a lower spring seat 8 mounted on the outer periphery of the cylinder 2. A fixation member 10 having a larger diameter than that of the rod 3 is mounted to the cylinder 2 side of the piston rod 3 from the support 4, so as not to enable relative rotation with respect to the rod 3, and the fixation member 10 is provided with an engagement part 12 with which a fixing tool 11 inserted from outside of the coil spring 9 is engaged.
