<p>Surprisingly it has been found that battery separators based on unwoven fabric can be obtained simply and without complications and having uniform thickness and especially adequate porosity. The separators are not hairy, have outstanding mechanical strength, good chemical resistance, especially against sulfuric acid and salt solutions, and have outstanding delamination resistance. An Independent claim is included for preparation of the separators based on an endless filament nonwoven fabric (NWF) by spinning of polymers, the NWF being pre-strengthened by stitching, and calibrated with a calender, with terminal strengthening by an acid resistant binder.</p> |
