PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which efficiently prevents the generation of uneven wear on a shoulder land part and insufficiency of road surface holding when turning or the like. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire is provided with a plurality of peripheral grooves 1, 2 which are formed on a tread surface and continuously extend circumferentially along a tread and a plurality of lateral grooves 11, 12, 15, 16 which are formed from the peripheral groove 2 at the outermost side positioned closest to a ground contact end CE to the shoulder land parts 9, 10 at the ground contact end side and extend widthwise along a tread. A plurality of pairs of lateral grooves 14, 18 comprising outward lateral grooves 11, 15 which extend from the peripheral groove 2 at the outermost side to the ground contact end CE side and terminate in the land parts 9, 10 and inward lateral grooves 12, 16 which extend from the ground contact end CE side to the peripheral groove 2 side at the outermost side and terminate in the land parts 9, 10 without communicating with the outward lateral grooves 11, 15 are arranged circumferentially along a tread in the shoulder land parts 9, 10 at predetermined intervals.
