摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain generation of a large quantity of NOx and generation of knocking and a knocking combustion sound, when an engine is accelerated after getting out of a motoring state. SOLUTION: This combustion control method comprises an EGR passage 8 communicating an exhaust passage 3 of the engine with an intake passage 2, and recirculates a part of exhaust gas in the exhaust passage 3 to the intake passage 2 by the EGR passage 8. Blocking-up valves 10a and 10b capable of opening and closing the EGR passage 8 are respectively arranged on both ends of the EGR passage 8. The exhaust gas is shut up in the EGR passage 8, by closing the blocking-up valves 10a and 10b, when the engine becomes the motoring state, on the basis of a detecting value detected by detecting means 12 and 15 detecting an operation state of the engine. When the engine escapes from the motoring state, the exhaust gas shut up in the EGR passage 8 is supplied to the intake passage 2 side, by controlling the blocking-up valves 10a and 10b for opening.
