<p>A self-adhesive artificial eyelash unit (14) attaches to a subject wearer's existing natural eyelashes (60) to modify their appearance. The unit (14) is preferably applied as a set of units (14a, 14b) to opposite sides of a wearer's natural eyelash (60). Each unit (14) includes an array (18) of artificial lash hairs each lash hair (20) having a base (22) and a tip (23). The hairs (60) are aligned in the array (18) with their bases (22) in a substantially common direction. A support strip (26) has an adhesive-receiving surface (36) and a leading edge (34) in which the bases (22) of the hairs (60) are embedded. The support strip (26) is made of polyurethane or similar material. An adhesive (42) is disposed on the adhesive- receiving surface (36) of the support strip (26), and releaseably attaches the artificial eyelashes unit (14) to the top and (optionally) to the bottom surfaces of the existing natural eyelashes (60) of the wearer to provide for cosmetically altering the appearance of the wearer's natural eyelashes. No part of the artificial eyelashes units (14) contacts the wearer's skin.</p> |
