<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter member having increased adhesion onto a hollow fiber membrane layer and efficiently catching air bubbles in blood, and to provide an oxygenator including the filter member. <P>SOLUTION: The oxygenator includes: a housing; the cylindrical hollow fiber membrane layer 3 which is stored in the housing and obtained by cumulating multiple hollow fiber membranes; and the cylindrical filter member 4 arranged to adhere onto the outer circumference of the hollow fiber membrane layer 3, having a function of catching the air bubbles contained in the blood. The filter member 2 is composed of a sheet shape member obtained by crossing warp yarn 41 and weft yarn 42, especially a mesh shape member, and is expansible at least in the circumferential direction. The filter member 4 satisfies the condition of 0.5≤L2/L1<1 wherein the length of the outer circumference of the hollow fiber membrane layer 3 is expressed as L1 and the length of an inner circumference in a natural state in which the external force of the filter member 4 is not imparted, is expressed as L2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
