<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compatible the prevention or the suppression of flooding and the maintenance of high power generation performance. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell system is provided with: a fuel cell stack 50 composed by forming, on the same surface side of a unit cell 10, a first fuel gas passage 13 communicating with a first fuel gas intermediate manifold 14 from a fuel gas supply manifold 12, and a second fuel gas passage 17 communicating with a fuel gas exhaust manifold 18 from a first fuel gas intermediate manifold 16; and third third fuel cell passages 15a and 15b communicating with the second fuel gas intermediate manifold 16 from the first fuel gas intermediate manifold 14 through a humidity adjustment means 60a arranged outside the fuel cell stack 50.
