<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vision support system capable of improving visibility in a view field of a driver by using one camera, and to provide an apparatus for extracting a region impossible to recognize visually, which is employed in the vision support system. <P>SOLUTION: A photographic subject is photographed through a filter which is made up by alternately arranging a visible light cut-off filter and a near-infrared cut-off filter, and an image data set representing the photographic subject is generated, and an infrared image data set which is acquired through the visible light cut-off filter, is generated based on the prepared image data set, and a visible-light image data set which is acquired through the near-infrared cut-off filter, is prepared based on the above image data set. Then, a pixel which has a visible-light luminance value less than a first threshold and an infrared luminance value equal to or more than a second threshold, is extracted from the visible-light image data set and the infrared image data set, as the region impossible to recognize visually. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
