<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic composite in which high hardness is compatible with high toughness. <P>SOLUTION: The ceramic composite is composed of 5-30 wt.% zirconia having ≤3 μm average particle size, 0-30 wt.% silicon nitride having ≤2 μm average particle size and the balance alumina having ≤2 μm average particle size. Monoclinic zirconia accounts for ≥20% of the whole zirconia and the orientation coefficient of the (200) plane of monoclinic zirconia is within 1.0-1.7 and that of the (122) plane is within 0.75-1.5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
