<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display, having a three-dimensional image displayed by a new system and moreover, the three-dimensional image observed even from a direction that is vertically inclined with respect to the direction of observation. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel 1; a display panel drive means that selectively writes the left-eye image data and the right-eye image data for displaying three-dimensional images on a plurality of pixels; an illumination means 7 for emitting the lift-eye light and the right-eye light toward the liquid crystal display panel 1, with the left-eye light having directivity such that the peak of emission light intensity inclines in the left-eye direction of a middle display observer, and the right-eye light having directivity such that the peak of the emission light intensity is inclined in the right-eye direction of the observer; and a vertical diffusing means 16, disposed on the observation side of the liquid crystal display panel 1 and scattering the left-eye light and the right-eye light in the vertical direction of the screen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
