<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling element wherein its optical coupling efficiency is improved and it is miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: The optical coupling element has: first and second leads extended in a planar way of a light emitting element, a light emitting element chip provided on the first lead of the light emitting element, first and second leads extended in a planar way of a light receiving element, a light receiving element chip provided on the first lead of the light receiving element, an inner resin made of a light transmitting material interposed between the light emitting element chip and the light receiving element chip, and an outer resin so formed as to cover the inner resin, the respective portions of the first and second leads of the light emitting element, and the respective portions of the first and second leads of the light receiving element. Hereupon, the inner resin is molded in the form of a nearly circular column, and the light emitting element chip is disposed nearly in parallel with the one bottom surface of the nearly circular column, and further, the light receiving element chip is so disposed nearly in parallel with the other bottom surface of the nearly circular column as to oppose to the light emitting element chip. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
