PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscomagnetic fluid shock absorber easy to assemble. SOLUTION: The viscomagnetic fluid shock absorber comprises a cylinder 1 filled with viscomagnetic fluid whose viscosity is changed with the operation of a magnetic field, a piston 2 slidably arranged in the cylinder 1 for partitioning the cylinder 1 into two fluid chambers 3, 4, a flow path 6 through which the viscomagnetic fluid passes with the sliding motion of the piston 2, a coil 9 for operating the magnetic fluid on the flow path 6, a rod 5 to one end of which the piston 2 is fixed, and a pair of plates 11, 12 inserted through the rod 5 so as to clamp the piston 2 at both ends. The piston 2 has a piston core 2a through which the rod 5 is inserted, and a ring body 2b arranged at a certain space from the outer periphery of the piston core 2a and having both ends engaging with the pair of plates 11, 12 to form the flow path 6 between the outer periphery of the piston core 2a and itself. The first plate is locked to a stepped portion 5b of the rod 5, and the second plate 12 is fixed to the rod 5 with a fastening means 12c. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
