PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop treatment action of a sheet folding device on a downstream side by detecting excessive load when the excessive load is generated on a stapler on an upstream side by an almost existing mechanism without adding almost a new mechanism. SOLUTION: The sheet treatment device 2 folds/bends the bundle of sheets by the sheet folding device 60 after the bundle of sheets is stapled by the staplers 18A, 18B. The sheet treatment device 2 stops the sheet folding action of the sheet folding device by CPU 150 when a staple current value detected by a current detection mechanism for detecting the load in stapling by the staplers 18A, 18B is a predetermined value or more.
