PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-component developer which is used for an image forming apparatus equipped with a developing means employing a hybrid development system to obtain images of high picture qualities having density unevenness, development ghosts, and fogging suppressed for a long period of time, and an image forming method with which the images of high picture qualities having density unevenness, development ghosts, and fogging suppressed can be obtained for a long period of time. SOLUTION: As the two-component developer used for the image forming apparatus 10 equipped with the developing means 18 employing the hybrid development system, a two-component developer is used which contains a carrier having number average particle diameter of 25 to 50μm in, variation coefficient of a particle size distribution of 5 to 20%, and circularity of 0.95 to 0.98.
